Question 1

What counts as 'eligible' under EU261/UK261?

Accepted Answer

Covered routes: Flights that depart from the EU/EEA/UK (any airline) or arrive to the EU/UK on an EU/UK carrier. Qualifying events: Arrival delay of 3+ hours, cancellation with short notice, or involuntary denied boarding due to overbooking. Common exclusions: Extraordinary circumstances outside the airline's control (for example, severe weather, widespread air traffic control restrictions, security risks). Crew or aircraft rotation issues are generally not extraordinary. Compensation bands: Typically up to u20ac250/u20ac400/u20ac600 depending on flight distance and circumstances. The exact amount depends on the route and the rules in force at the time of travel.
